At the end of each month, Twitch and YouTube personality Nik Nocturnal will recap the most viral rock and metal news that set the internet abuzz in a Loudwire video series.
The last month has given us plenty Metallica–Stranger Things crossover love, with the hugely popular Netflix series helping to put Metallica’s 36-year-old “Master of Puppets” back on the map for a new generation of fans and creating one of the year’s breakout characters in Eddie Munson.
While not saying exactly why that song resonated so much in the storytelling of the past season, Nocturnal says, “It’s probably the best part of the whole series to be honest,” and later adds all the recent wave of Metallica love courtesy of Stranger Things“I just love seeing old classic bangers come back through mainstream ways and be popularized. Why not? Win, win, win.”
And also on the unexpected “metal” side this month, you have Mouse who laid down arguably their heaviest track to date with “Kill or be killed.” A breakdown and death hum is probably the last thing you’d expect from the spacious alt-rock outfit, but as Nocturnal says, “I want to see more of this happen and I just love that Muse is up to it .”
There’s a lot more to check out, and Nik delving offers his reactions for fans who aren’t aware Rage against the machine are political, an unwanted birthday present and thoughts of waiting Slip knot music that is on the horizon.
