That’s 10 years ago Thomas Rhett published “Something to do with my hands, ”The debut single that rocked him to star status. After learning the ins and outs of the country music scene, the multi-platinum artist caught up Big Machine Label Group to reflect on his successful career and to share what he wished he knew as an aspiring musician in 2012.

“I would say you have no control and you might as well let the control go,” Rhett would stress to the 22-year-old dream hunter.
The multi-platinum artist went on to mention that he tirelessly tried to make a name for himself without the help of others in the industry.
“I think for so long early in my career I was trying to make it happen on my own,” he said. explained. “You know, I thought, if I could just write a better song, or if I could play a better show, I would be able to do it at a high level.”
Rhett pointed out that being a micromanager early on got the best out of him and affected his mental health.
‘The anxiety and the wonder over’, will this record cope? Where is my song on the hit list? How many streams do we have? ‘ I feel like I did it for five years and it was exhausting, ”he told the label.
Over the years, the hitmaker did not learn to dwell on numbers and made it a priority to focus solely on his artistry.
“I’m just starting to let go of control and create. And I’m just in a much happier and more substantive headspace,” said Rhett, while also highlighting that his past experience made him the successful performer he is today. “I think that’s why we can not tell ourselves those things because I think we need to experience them to get to where we are today. But if I could, I would say it.”
