SZA Celebrates Scoring First No.1 Single: ‘I’m So Grateful!’

SZA have not only had None. 1 album in the country for the last four weeks in a rowbut she now has her first No. 1 single to go with it.

Monday (January 9) Billboard confirmed that SZA’s “Kill Bill” track had topped their Global 200 chart. The Billboard Global 200 ranks songs based on streaming and sales activity accumulated from more than 200 territories around the world.

In a tweet, the New Jersey-based singer expressed gratitude for the new recognition. “Number one GLOBAL is incredible!!” SZA tweeted.

She added: “I’m so grateful! Thank you to everyone around the world who is listening SEA and kill bill.”

The TDE singer’s second LP SEA topped the Billboard 200 for its fourth straight week on the same day, bringing in an additional 125,000 units.

The performance puts SZA in rare company as SEA becomes the first R&B album by a woman to spend its first four weeks at No. 1 since Janet Jackson’s 1993 LP Janet. almost 30 years ago.

“I have nothing to say but thanks to God, my ancestors, my family, my team and ALL of you who DRIVE FOR ME! ESPECIALLY CAMP!!” SZA wrote in response to the news, β€œIn my whole family too [white heart emoji] we have so much more to come.”

The singer recently spoke with Glamour about SEAand said she was unapologetically herself at every turn on the album.

“It’s about heartbreak, it’s about revenge, it’s about getting mad,” she said. “I’ve never raged like I should have. This is my villain era and I’m very comfortable with it. It’s the way I say no, it’s the way I decide what I take , what I don’t take It’s in the damn things I don’t apologize for.

“I’m a bitch β€” it’s not all the time, but when I am, it’s okay,” she continued. “I don’t have to spend my whole life trying to be a nice girl. That’s just not who I am. But I’m a good person.”

Next month, SZA is taking the album on the road on his first ever arena tour and took singer Omar Apollo along for the ride.

The 17-date tour kicks off in Columbus, Ohio on February 21st. From there, SZA will hit other cities like Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Boston, New York City, Atlanta, and Dallas before closing things out in Los Angeles on March 22. Tickets are on sale now here.
