Soulja Boy Talks About Rappers Wearing ‘Lipstick’ And ‘Finger Nail Polish’

Soulja Boy has shared his thoughts on rappers donning nail polish and lipstick, revealing he’s not a fan of the look.

In a rant shared on his Instagram Live this week, Big Draco did his usual round of bow before diving into how “your favorite rapper” is probably on IG Live wearing lipstick and nail polish.

“I don’t put nail polish on my nails, I don’t — this is chapstick,” Soulja Boy said, holding up his chapstick in response to a fan who asked why he “put on lipstick.”

“Why don’t you go up to your favorite rapper live and ask him why he put on nail polish? Or ask him why he put on lipstick?” he continued. “Nah, you want to come to a real n-gga live, a real gangster and play with a n-gga talking about a chapstick, man. Stop playing.

“But when your real favorite rapper puts nail polish on his nails, you guys can’t see that shit, can you? You can’t see it though, huh? He’s a gangster, right? … You like to play with the real n-ggas , go play with those… n-ggas that actually put shit on, they’re nails.”

He concluded: “Why do you want to play with a real gangster? I’ve never put on a bloody lipstick and I never will.”

While it’s unclear who Big Draco may have been referring to, there are plenty of rappers who could be the target of his wrath, who Trippie Redd, Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, NBA YoungBoy, Lil Yachty and Kid Cudi have all used makeup in the past.

YoungBoy had been adamant about wearing makeup, telling Akademiks in a clubhouse chat room back in 2021 that wearing makeup made him feel comfortable and as a “rock star”.

“I like to paint my face, put on makeup,” he admitted. “I like to look in the mirror and see everything black. Like my eyes and shit… “Just, I don’t know. I feel comfortable that way.” He added that his engineer bought him makeup from MAC Cosmetics. “It gives me, like, the goth feeling, like rock stars.”

Kid Cudi revealed painted nails on social media last July, and in turn was forced to do so turned off his Instagram comments after trolls criticized him for the look.

“Turned off my comments on Instagram,” he tweeted on July 17. “It seems like people really have a problem with me painting my nails. I got tired of blocking so many accounts. I really need you to understand if you don’t like me doing it here or anything I do, so don’t buy my albums and don’t come to my shows. Damn you far away.”

As for Playboi Carti, he often breaks the internet with new looks and in March unveiled a new one Joker-inspired makeup look prior to his performance at Kanye West’s Donna 2 listening arrangement in Miami.

The look apparently inspired Trippie Redd to do the same, who in September revealed a look consisting of heavy black eyeliner and makeup stylistically similar to Carti.

While lipstick-wearing rappers are the target of Soulja Boy’s latest rant, he’s also recently come after Elon Musk, and criticized the Tesla mogul’s handling of Twitter after taking over the company in October. Soulja, in turn, said he plans to launch his own social media app.

“Now you can just pay to be verified? Twitter is broken,” Soulja Boy appropriately said on Twitter. “Bro leave twitter alone @elonmusk wtf are you doing.”
