Sonny Digital reacts to Saweetie’s mediocre sales forecast

Sonny Digital has disclosed the status of hip-hop album sales and taken a shot at Sweetheart in the process.

The math didn’t add up for the super producer, who couldn’t figure out how an artist like Saweetie could amass millions of followers and likes on social media, only to parlay it into a 2,000 album sales projection – which is an unconfirmed figure – for her new EP THE SINGLE LIFE.

“13 million followers, hundreds of thousands of likes on all pictures, but the album sold less than 2000 copies. It’s crazy. The math doesn’t add up,” Sonny indirectly tweeted about the “ICY GRL” rapper.

“If I had millions of followers and my album sold 2k, I’d probably just delete all my social media because you guys are lying to me,” he continued. “Before I came here to give my opinion, I listened to the album. I actually listened to everything that dropped that day. Just out of curiosity to see what the competition was about.”

Sonny Digital wasn’t the only one to slam Saweetie about her seemingly low sales projections. DJ Vlad also snitched on the Bay Area native after she reportedly declined his request for an interview.

“If Saweetie did one VladTV interview, she would have easily made 10 times her first week’s sales, which were 2000 copies. We actually reached out through one of our people and were told ‘she won’t do Vlad’. Her loss,” he tweeted.

Saweetie’s decision to drop out did not go down well with Joe Budden as he considered tragic murder of Quavo’s nephew and Migos groupmate TakeOff just weeks earlier. During a recent episode of his titular podcast, The messenger told Saweetie to “shut up.”

“Saweetie should shut the hell up. That’s my position,” he said. “I’m not listening to Saweetie until she answers the question everyone is waiting for her to answer: Did you fuck Offset or not? That’s it. It’s bad timing for whatever she said in that [song]. This is not the time for your freestyle.”

He added, “I honestly didn’t really hear anything directed at Quavo. I just keep hearing Lil Baby and I think people keep mistaking it for Quavo like they did last time.

“But whatever, this isn’t the time for confusion. This isn’t the time for any of that after they’ve just lost their brother and nephew. Sorry, Saweetie. Push it back. You’ve been quiet. No need to come and shake the table now. Did you fuck dude or not?”

THE SINGLE LIFE arrived November 18 via Warner Records with six tracks and no features. The EP acts as an appetizer for Saweetie’s highly anticipated debut album, Pretty Bitch music.
