The 51 songs Iron Maiden have never played live

With over 150 songs in the catalogue, Iron Maiden have done a remarkable job of giving most of their material some stage time, and there are just over 50 songs that they’ve never played live. That is, with the always reliable archive page at our disposal, we rounded them all up here.

Of their 16 studio albums, only two have the distinction of having every song played live, one of which was on a tour where the record was played backwards.

What’s most impressive here is that there are only two albums where the legendary metal band played less than half of the material that was on it, and it came during one of the most tumultuous points in Iron Maiden’s career . And one of those albums is 2021’s Senjutsuso there’s still time for more songs to potentially make the setlist at some point.

New and old fans understand this when Iron Maiden announces a new album tour – they’re going to hear a lot of new songs. A lot. That was the case back in the early ’80s, and it’s no different now, especially with the group releasing incredibly strong records so late in their career.

Today, Maiden have faithfully held on to their status as a relevant band today, and no one has given up just to play two new songs with the usual hits that we fans are still not tired of hearing. And it’s not just a stubborn move either – so much talk of a new release centers around fans fantasizing about what new songs they’ll get to see when Eddie and the boys roll (or fly) into town.

So here they are – the songs that none of us have ever seen Iron Maiden play. Maybe one day we’ll be lucky enough to cross a few of these off the list.

Note: We stuck strictly to songs that appeared on the standard studio release or subsequent reissue. Japanese bonus tracks, covers and other non-album B-sides (such as the lovably goofy, Rod Smallwood-mocking “Sheriff of Huddersfield”) were not included in the tally. The “Virus” single (spoiler alert!) is an exception.
