Add Lady Gaga to the star-studded list. Smith tells the story of when they left school to see Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour. They forged a letter from father and landed detention for maybe a week. Did the punishment fit the crime? It does not mean anything. “It was so worth it,” says Smith.

On the day, Smith performed “Stay With Me” and met with top fans. Kamala Harris “loved” their handbag, “they were all very nice and kind to me and my team and everybody.”
As a Brit, Smith never dreamed of being in the game to specific meeting place. “It was such a beautiful day, such a beautiful step in the right direction for our community, and I was just very honored.”

Its title and title song, Smith explains, are about “a spirit inside of me that says to me, ‘You keep going.’ You have it here. Continue’. It’s like a fighting spirit in me.”
Several songs from it have already dropped, including the hit “Unholy” featuring Kim Petras and “Gimme” featuring Koffee and Jessie Reyez. Another song with an “awesome” music video is coming soon. “I explode in glitter,” says Smith.
Smith hits the road in April for the start of a bigger trip To support Gloria. Several dates were added this week. But first, SNL this weekend – Smith’s first appearance as a musical guest on the program in eight years. “I’m not that nervous.
