Nita Strauss shares blistering new solo single ‘Summer Storm’

Earlier Alice Cooper and current Demi Lovato guitarist Nita Strauss has released a dazzling new instrumental solo single titled “Summer Storm”. You can hear the song and watch the video below.

“Summer Storm” finds Strauss returning to his solo comfort zone of pulverizing instrumental metal, mixing harmonized guitar riffs, brutal one-none breakdowns and dizzying solos. The video alternates between live footage and behind-the-scenes moments with her band, including soundchecks, load-ins and backstage and tour-bus bonding.

The song follows last year’s “Dead Inside,” which featured guest vocals from Disturbed‘s David Draiman and topped Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart, making Strauss the first female solo rock artist to do so since Alannah Myles’ “Black Velvet” topped the chart in 1990. “Summer Storm” will appear on Strauss’s as-yet-untitled sophomore solo. album, which follows her 2018 debut Controlled chaos.

“Instrumental music is where my heart is, and ‘Summer Storm’ is perhaps the song I feel most captures my personal style: swelling, driving and emotional,” Strauss said in a statement. “While a large part of the upcoming record will feature guest vocalists, I’m also so proud of the instrumental tracks and excited to officially release this one on the world!”

Strauss, who joined Cooper’s touring band in 2014, announced in July that she would not join the rocker on his upcoming autumn tour and revealed his plans to tour with Lovato a few days later. Yet she has not ruled out a return for Cooper’s band in the future.

“There’s no closing a door and changing of the guard, it’s just me taking a little step back,” she shared Higher. “Depending on what the schedule looks like next year, I might have the chance to come back, I might not. But it certainly doesn’t feel as final to me and to the people in Alice’s band and inner circle as it has been portrayed out in the world .”
