Filipino rapper Miss A embraces old-school hip-hop in her first single of the year, “Wit Tha Funk,” featuring Fateha.
The up-and-coming MC talks about despite being born in the 2000s, Miss A raps “growing up and influenced by the 1990s and 80s flow” and most importantly, “learning from the funk.”
The track was controlled by Funbeats label founder and resident beatmaker, DJ Medmessiah. The accompanying visual was styled in the label’s style signature one-shot take in a cockpit where both Miss A and Fateeha are the “main attraction”.
“Wit Tha Funk” follows Miss A’s boom bap track, “Back 2 these streets,” which was released last October.
