Local coffee shop asks Def Leppard to perform, gets an answer back

Music fans across the country get to see Def Leppard perform one of their biggest hits, “Pour Some Sugar on Me”, on a nightly basis as co-headliners of “The Stadium Tour”. But imagine how cool it could be to catch them on something much smaller in size, says a local coffee shop? Well, that’s something Biggby Coffee in Oshtemo, Michigan, imagined, and they reached out to the band in hopes of arranging a special performance.

Like Meatballs by WKFR 103.3 FM in Kalamazoo, Michigan reports, so the leaders of Biggby Coffee saw a good marketing relationship and decided to shoot their shots and asked if the band could perform with “Pour Some Sugar on Me” to help promote their Brown Sugar Latte. As you might expect, the group is a bit busy at the moment on tour, but the coffee shop got an answer.

An official letter from the Talent Group representing the band reads as follows:

Thank you for your request.
However, we regret to inform you that Def Leppard will not be able to perform “Pour Some Sugar On Me” at your coffee shop to promote your Brown Sugar Latte.
The band is currently on their Stadium Tour.
While your offer of ‘unlimited Bragels and lattes’ is generous, performances start at $ 500,000.
If this lives up to your budget, we may be able to arrange an attendance in the future. We ask for 12 months notice.
We hope you reach one of their concerts this summer.
All the best with your promotion.

As Biggby Coffee noted in their letter to Facebook, “Well, we tried.” But as Meatball pointed out, the goal of getting Def Leppard based on the requirements of the letter may not be entirely unattainable if the local coffee team feels particularly charitable towards the company.

Oshtempo Township has about 21,000 inhabitants, but it is also part of the much larger Kalamazoo area with a metro population of nearly 335,000 people. Suggesting a “Def Leppard Tip Jar” for those who pass by can help put Biggby Coffee on track if they pursue it further.

Meanwhile, your best bet to catch Def Leppard is to see them on “The Stadium Tour” with Motley Crue, Poison, Joan Jett and the Classless Act. You can get your tickets here.
