On Tuesday (Jan. 24), Juelz took to Instagram with a post announcing that he was working on a track with the Yonkers native that will land on his upcoming DJ Drama Gangsta Grillz mixtape, We in Motion.
“Yo, I’m telling you right now me and my man Jada got a damn banger you heard,” Juelz said in his video. “Yo, Flex, all that mindless, what New York sounds like shit, that’s what New York sounds like. I guarantee you that’s what New York sounds like. We got what New York sounds like.”
He added, “That’s what New York Sound like, the n-ggas outside of New York wanna fuck too. Like, uh, We in Motionthis shit is a good project, man.”
Juelz claims New York rap is back after Diddy made a statement last year that the city had lost its identity and needed to find it, as other regions were way ahead of The Big Apple. He made the statement below a conversation with Funk Flex on Hot 97and admits that he is tired, the city is in “last place”.
“New York, we’re in last place,” Diddy said. “I’m here to tell you, and that shit ends today. We start doing us. The way you hear the beat in your head, you do it. The way you move, you do it. The way you dress, you do. Don’t do them, God bless them.”
He continued: “A New York cat isn’t supposed to follow anybody anywhere for nothing. Because we come from a rich culture of artists and designers and creatives. New York has always been the leader and we don’t interfere, e.g. We from New York, damn it?”
Juelz linking up with Kiss wouldn’t be a bad look for the city as it tries to find its roots. The two have collaborated several times on tracks like “Bad Guy,” “Ol Thang Back,” “Dipset/Lox” and more. The Harlem native has also been busy promoting his upcoming project since announcing it back in December.
The Dipset member first previewed the project on Christmas Day 2022 with a post revealing the new album title with an image showing Juelz and Drama’s names along with the tagline “Top Of The Year” added.
“We’re on the move … the album … Top of the year … long time coming #ICFMF #BackOutSide,” Juelz captioned his post.
Juelz Santana’s last project came in March 2020 with #FREESANTANA, who was released while serving time at FCI Petersburg Medium in Hopewell, Virginia. The 10-track album features Jim Jones, Dave East, 2 Chainz, Belly, Lil Wayne, Jeremih and A Boogie wit da Hoodie.
In November, Juelz teased that he would drop a new project with an Instagram post where he was in the studio listening to a song with A Boogie.
Juelz Santana has kicked off his music career again this past year. In April, he appeared on fellow Diplomat Jim Jones’ “We Set the Trends (Remix)” alongside Lil Wayne, Migos and DJ Khaled before drop a new song with Benny The Butcher in August after being challenged to release new music by Funkmaster Flex.
Juelz too teased a collaboration with Lil Durkin addition to linking up with Chief Keef and Lil Wayne separately in the studio.
