Are you interested in what Motley Crue sounds like with John 5 on the axe? Fortunately for longtime fans, John 5 has given ample evidence of his Motley Crue guitar chops since being chosen as Mars’ touring replacement. As of November 2021, John 5 has shared a series of what he calls “Colorful Mondays“Guitar playthrough videos on Instagram.

Watch the videos at the bottom of this post.

In his clips, John 5 has run through Motley Crue classics such as “Home Sweet Home,” “Louder Than Hell,” “Looks That Kill,” “Same Ol’ Situation (SOS),” “Dr. Feelgood” and more. And the guitarist plays them all with expert music on the fingerboard.

No wonder Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx has said that John 5 checks all the band’s creative boxes. And Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger already knew John 5 could shred all the classic Crue tunes after getting a sneak peek at his chops on a recent trip together.

“He just sat there and played every Motley Crue riff ever written and recorded flawlessly,” Kroeger recalled. “Flawless. You don’t have to put music on when you have that kind of talent. … He just ran the gamut and it was amazing.”
