Jack Johnson performs at the City Of Hope’s Spirit Of Life ‘gala

Jack Johnson performs at City Of Hope’s Spirit of Life gala, which this year pays tribute to Republic Records founders Monte and Avery Lipman.

“I’m excited to be a part of the City of Hope gala honoring my friends Monte and Avery Lipman,” Johnson said in a statement confirming his participation. “Over the last 20 years, they have always been there for me. Now it’s my turn to focus on them and the important work they do with the City of Hope.”

The singer, songwriter and professional surfer has sold over 25 million copies worldwide, and is ready to release the eighth studio LP, Meet the Moonlightwhich comes out June 24th.

Johnson is the headline on the artists for the fundraising event, which marks its return after a two-year hiatus due to the health crisis.

In its 49-year history, the project has raised nearly $ 125 million for City of Hope medical research and patient care and celebrated some of the leading figures in music, from Sylvia Rhone to Jon Platt, Clive Davis, Quincy Jones, Frances W. Preston, Doug Morris and Lucian Grainge and others.

This year’s honored is on a hot streak. Monte (the brand’s CEO) and Avery (COO) are heads of the Republic, who finished in 2021 as the No. 1 label on Billboard‘s year-end chart – this is the fifth time ending in the top in the last seven years.

For the first time, the Republic ruled all three last year Billboard‘s leading ranking of labels at the end of the year, which ranks at the top of Top labels, Billboard 200 labels and Billboard Hot 100 Labels diagrams.
