The BX rappers were mobbed by fans at the giveaway event as they found another way to give back to the community they both grew up in by donating turkeys to around 150 different local families.
Footage emerged of Ice Spice and Tjay atop some sort of table or car overlooking the massive screaming crowd as they threw out turkeys for free. However, the fans seemed more interested in getting selfies with the hometown heroes.
“This shit looks active out here… We in the Bronx. Look, I’ve got a whole bunch of turkeys to give out. Police shit. My son Ice is [here]. If you’re not here, jump out,” Tjay said before taking aim at his opponents. “I know the sitters are mad that they can’t do this.”
Lil Tjay seems to be in good spirits afterwards is shot several times outside a Chipotle restaurant in Edgewater, New Jersey in June.
According to the Bergen county prosecutor’s office, a 27-year-old man named Mohamed Konate tried to rob Tjay and his two friends, Antoine Boyd and Jeffrey Valdez, while they were in a Dodge Durango near the Promenade mall.
Konate, who was arrested about a month after the shooting, allegedly fired near-fatal shots at Tjay, hitting him in the thoracic cavity. Konate sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the attempted robbery. The “Zoo York” rapper was reportedly unconscious for several days after undergoing emergency surgery.
As for Ice Spice, she continues to adjust to her newfound fame after enjoying a meteoric rise thanks to her breakout hit “Munch (Feelin’ U).” After recently dropping a follow-up single, “Bikini Bottom,” the 22-year-old is now working on a six-track EP as her debut project.
