Gucci Mane visits his grandfather’s home after signing new rapper

Gucci Mane took a trip down memory lane and visited his grandfather’s house after signing a new artist from his hometown of Bessemer, Alabama.

The full-circle moment happened on November 12 when Guwop shared footage of himself walking up to the entrance of the home where he spent his younger days before moving to Atlanta, Georgia when he was nine years old.

In the next piece of footage, Gucci celebrated the signing of the newest addition to his 1017 Records imprint, TLE Cinco, by presenting him with a new diamond chain in front of his grandfather’s home.

“Just signed the toughest youngster in Alabama welcome @truckload_cinco to the 1017 family,” Gucci captioned the photo. “This signing was personal as he is from my hometown of Bessemer Alabama, I had to look past my grandfather’s house the original 1017 for inspiration! #1017Mafia.”

Cinco comes from the same neighborhood where Gucci spent most of his childhood. The younger Bessemer native is still fresh in the game, with a total of three projects under his belt, including the first call-up 20 Cinco in 2019. He followed that up Selfconscious the next year and Evil genius in 2021.

The latest 1017 signature had a better introduction than the Baby Racks which were dropped from the brand a day after signing his contract. Baby Racks’ aborted deal appeared to stem from disparaging comments he made about the city of Houston, Texas, where Migos rapper Takeoff was tragically shot dead.

“I’m definitely not fw Houston after that DONT BOOK ME BECAUSE BABY RACKS IS NOT COMING,” Racks tweeted after Takeoff’s death.

Gucci apparently didn’t take Baby Racks’ comments lightly, announcing on Twitter that the buzzing rapper was no longer part of his label.

“Congratulations to @Babyracks1017 first artist signed and dropped on a day the guy isn’t signed to 1017,” Gucci wrote in a since-deleted tweet.

Baby Racks appeared to be reeling from the humiliation as he fired back at Gucci Mane with his own sarcastic tweet.

“Congratulations on the baby racks [partying face emoji] appreciate the video appreciate fly me out I appreciate check Atlantic records sent thank you Gucci,” he wrote.

He then apparently mocked Gucci by asking Jeez, Yo Gotti and NBA YoungBoy – who has previously had issues with the Burrprint rapper – for a record deal.

“I’m a free agent now young boy get me @YoGotti wassup @Jeezy holla t me,” he added before tagging other label heads Rick Ross and quality control Pierre “Tiss” Thomas.
