Gucci Mane lied about killing Pookie Loc, ex-manager says

Gucci Mane has been accused by his former manager of lying about murder Pookie Loca colleague of his former rival Jeezy.

Debra Antneymother to Waka Flocka Flame who helped steer Gucci to success in the mid-late 2000s under her Mizay Entertainment label, made the bombshell claim during an appearance on The Ugly Money Podcast.

Antney – who also used to manage Nicki Minaj, French Montana and OJ Da Juiceman – was asked about Gucci and Jeezy’s 2020 Verzuz Matchwhere Guwop taunted his then-enemy by talking about the death of his friend Pookie Loc, whom he was accused of killing.

“Technically, you really didn’t kill anyone,” she said. “All these kids think you’re the number one killer, so let’s stop talking about it, because now you’re a father, you’ve got two sons. Think about your kids looking at you a certain way of something that’s fictional. It was done for rap.”

When the Ugly Money Niche podcast host pressed Antney about her claim that Gucci didn’t actually kill Pookie, she replied, “No,” while shaking her head.

Pookie Loc (real name Henry Lee Clark III) was shot dead in May 2005 during an attempted robbery at a property where Gucci Mane was visiting. The 1017 rapper was visiting a friend in Decatur, Georgia, when Clark and three other men burst into her apartment.

The assailants assaulted Gucci and a scuffle ensued before shots were fired and the men fled the scene. Clark’s body was discovered several days later outside a nearby middle school.

Guwop was arrested and charged with Clark’s murder, but the charges were later dropped due to insufficient evidence. He admitted to police that he had fired at the group, but insisted he was acting in self-defense.

Pookie Loc’s death further fueled the beef between Gucci Mane and Jeezy, which stemmed from a dispute over their 2005 hit collaboration “Icy” and would continue to fuel the flames for years. Jeezy referenced Pookie’s passing on his 2015 song “Forgive Me.” denied long-held rumors that he had sent him to rob Gucci.

“Rest in peace to Pookie Loc, blame it on me never sniffing / Lord knows I don’t send the homie on a dummy mission.” he rapped.

In their aforementioned Verzuz match, Gucci rubbed Pookie’s death in Jeezy’s face by performing his 2012 song “The Truth,” which includes the line: “Go dig your partner up, n-gga, bet he can’t say shit.” He further mocked the snowman by saying he “smoked Pookie Loc tonight.”

Despite the low blows, the southern states’ faithful are buried the hatchet by performing “Icy” together to close the match. Gucci later admitted regret over his Pookie diss during the competition.

“I don’t even like performing that song,” he said of “The Truth” in an interview with Rap radarElliott Wilson and Brian “B.Dot” Miller at the 2022 REVOLT Summit last September. “When I left, I thought, ‘Damn. I wish I hadn’t said what I said.’”

He added: “I didn’t know when I got on stage it was going to happen, [that] I would say that. I don’t like, ‘I bring negative energy.’ It just really came out.”
