Ghost Return with new version of ‘Spillways’ featuring Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott

Ghost are back, and this time they’ve got a little help too Def Leppard‘s Joe Elliott is involved in a new version of Impera song, “Spillways.”

News of the collaboration began to spread late Wednesday afternoon when Ghost continued their video series showing Elliott sitting in a Dublin bar playing karaoke and being asked about a pub crawl (or pope crawl as he may have heard it). When he steps up to the microphone and begins to sing along to the Ghost song, he is suddenly thrust into an electrifying alternate universe, eventually embodying himself with a new Ghost record. Watch the teaser, which features part of the song, below.

Ghost teases “Spillways” collaboration with Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott

But the teaser was just the appetizer for the real deal as the new version of this Ghost song featuring guest Joe Elliott has arrived. The track, which sounds very inspired by late 70s/early 80s hard rock and metal, now features one of the best early 80s hard rock vocals featuring Elliott. Listen in below.

Ghost with Joe Elliott, “Spillways” lyrics

Through blessing
You tried to rid your mind of evil
But through all this time
You try to peel it off and it’s such a trip (trip)
Your depravity led you into this
Wretched incarnation of perfect bliss
I know you need it now to make you feel alive (alive, alive)
All your faith, all your rage
All your pain, it’s not over now
And I’m not talking about forgiveness
All your faith, all your rage
All your pain, it’s not over now
It is the cruel beast you feed
It is your burning desire to bleed
Through the Drains (Drains)
You keep a coffin buried deep inside
You try to mask it, but fall back into sin
You want to shake it off, but you’re stuck inside
When it is stripped of rags of skin and spine
The Decline of Man, Corpus dei
Incurable displaced
And it’s such a trip (trip)
All your faith, all your anger
All your pain, it’s not over now
And I’m not talking about forgiveness
All your faith, all your anger
All your pain, it’s not over now
It is the cruel beast you feed
It is your burning desire to bleed
Through the drains
Through the outpouring of your soul
Through the drains
(spill, spill)
It is the cruel beast you feed
It is your burning desire to bleed
Through the drains
Through the outpouring of your soul
Through the drains
Through the outpouring of your soul
Through the drains
Through the outpouring of your soul
Through the drains
Through the outpouring of your soul
