Why Ethan Hawke is excited about Lamb of God’s new album art

Ethan Hawke was excited about Lamb of God‘s artwork to Alerts – the metal band’s ninth studio album out in the autumn – when he participated in Late Night with Seth Meyers Wednesday (July 27).

The actor said it reminded him of Moon Knightthat Marvel miniseries in which he starred. The series was led by Oscar Isaac as the titular hero when it aired earlier this year.

On Wednesday Late eveninggave Hawke another nod as well Art Cruz, Lamb of God’s drummer. Cruz happened to be sitting this week (July 25-28) as guest drummer with the NBC talk show’s house band, The 8G Band.

Later Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton Hawkes shared Late evening clip online. In it, the actor suggests Lamb of God’s skeletal eagle mascot AlertsThe cover reminds him of Marvel’s Khonshu, the Egyptian moon god from Moon Knight.

“By the way, that album cover looks insanely cool – Lamb of God,” says Hawke. “Doesn’t that remind you a little bit of Khonshu Moon Knight? I don’t know if you saw Moon Knight. But it’s a little Khonshu vibe.”

Meyers replies with a smile, “We tried very hard, we always want to promote your work when we promote the guest drummer.”

Hawke exchanges friendly gestures with Cruz, adding, “I appreciate that. I appreciate you thinking of me and me thinking of you.”

Alerts arrive Oct. 7. The Singles”Never again“and the title number are available now. Lamb of God hit the road with Killswitch Engage this fall. See the dates below the video.
