Elton John has teamed up with Britney Spears for the song “Hold Me Closer”, which combines elements of his previous tunes “Tiny Dancer”, “The One” and “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”.
Like “Cold Heart,” John’s hugely successful 2021 collaboration with pop star Dua Lipa, “Hold Me Closer,” sees Rocketman’s classic song parts fused with modern dance production. The track bounces off behind a pounding club beat, with guitar, bass and occasional piano parts breaking through the mix. Meanwhile, the singers weave their famous voices together for much of the song.
“It’s damn cool that I’m singing with one of the most classic men of our time,” Spears tweeted before the song’s release. “I’m kind of overwhelmed… it’s a big deal for me!”
