Dermot Kennedy Set Second UK No. 1 with ‘Probes’

Dermot Kennedy opens up a significant lead in the British chart race with Probes (via Iceland), his second album.

The Irishman’s LP leads the way midweek examinationwith an advantage of 12,000 chart sales over Taylor Swift’s Midnights (EMI), the next closest title.

Probes is the follow-up on without fear which 2019 saw Kennedy become first Irish act for over a year to bow at No.1 in the UK with his debut.

In the meantime Queen ready to make one miracle return to the diagram. The legendary rock band returns to the Official Charts Update at No. 3 with The miracle (Iceland), following an eight-disc reissue, including six unreleased tracks, four featuring the late Freddie Mercury on lead vocals.

The miracle led the weekly chart after its original release in 1989.

Canadian rockers Nickelback is back and ready to roll into the UK top 10. The band’s 10thTh studio album, get started (BMG) is heading for a No. 5 start. If it holds its position, it will mark Nickelback’s sixth UK top 5 appearance, the OCC reports.

David Bowie could score another posthumous hit, this time with the original soundtrack for the Brett Morgan-directed documentary, Moonage Daydream (via Parlophone). It’s on track for a No. 7 debut for what would be the Thin White Duke’s 36thTh UK top 10.

Close behind is an American metal band Disturbedwhich could pick up a fourth UK top 10 appearance with Divisive (Repeat). It is new at No. 8 on the chart explosion.

Mariah Carey made one early entry in the UK singles chart top 40 last Friday (November 18) with his holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” (Columbia). It hasn’t quite triggered an avalanche, although a wave of Christmas-themed recordings is making a move on the album chart.

Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra is headed for a No. 4 start on the album chart with Silver bells (Decca); AndreaMatteo and Virginia Bocelli’s A family Christmas (Decca) is ready to lift 13-12; Kylie Minogue Kylie Christmas (Parlophone) is set to re-enter at No. 27; and Michael BublĂ©’s multi-platinum gift that keeps on giving, Christmas (Reprise), is set to return at No. 35.

All will be revealed when the official UK Albums Chart is released on Friday.
