The bromance between Dave Grohl and Post Malone is growing. Earlier this month, on Nov. 16, the Foo Fighters frontman was in attendance at Post’s LA concert at the Crypto.com Arena. Not only did Grohl take some photos with his arm around the rapper/singer-songwriter, but he was also captured dancing during the performance.
In a Instagram posts by Adam Degross, “Personal photographer for Post Malone,” he shared that Grohl was one of the few celebs who came out to celebrate the end of Post’s tour, which was a feat in itself after the artist took a nasty fall on stage in September, resulting in the cancellation of a few dates.
“Post Malone finished the 12 Carat Tour and brought a lot of people out on stage in the last 2 days, Dave Grohl, Orville Peck, The Kid Laroi, My chemical romanceTakashi Murakami, YG, Polo G, Eric Andre, Youth Code, Big Boy, Saint John and many more,” shared Degross. In addition to Grohl, there’s also a snap with My Chem’s Frank Iero.
Post Malone hasn’t been shy about sharing his love of rock and metal, seen wearing one Power Trip shirt at one of his recent shows where he participated in a Iron Maiden concert, and covers a lot of Pearl Jam included “Better Man” and “Last kiss.”
But one of his finest tribute moments was back in late April 2020, when Post (along with Travis Barker, bassist Brian Lee and guitarist Nick Mac) live-streamed a special 15-song set of Nirvana tracks during the pandemic shutdown as a benefit for the UN Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Relief Fund. It has recently come out that Post applied for permission to Frances Bean Cobain before you do it.
Grohl heaped praise on Malone and crew a few months after the performance, telling radio station ALT 98.7 (as picked up by Blabbermouth), “They killed it. So I saw a lot of it. I was like, ‘That was really cool.'” I don’t get to see other people do Nirvana songs often and he seemed totally comfortable with it and it sounded good … Even the die-hard Nirvana people that I know were like, ‘Dude, he’s kind of killing it. Now.'”
Post Malone has one more show for the year, in Saudi Arabia on December 1, before taking a break and heading to Australia and New Zealand for more dates in January 2023. Grohl and Foo Fighters recently organized two tribute shows for the late drummer Taylor Hawkins, including i Los Angeles September 27. Earlier in November, Grohl also performed at Rock N Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony where you play with Lionel Richie.
