DaBaby takes on the Lauryn Hill Classic for the latest freestyle

DaBaby has been on a solid run with freestyles of late and his latest sees him take on a classic Lauryn Hill contributor.

Spitting over Hill’s Grammy-winning “Doo-Wop (That Thing),” the Charlotte native reflected on his turbulent journey as he persevered through controversy before referring to himself as the “best muthafuckin’ rapper” in the business amid the two-minute lyrical sprint.

I’ve already done it before but I’m back wiser and a little more patient/ I’ma pop my shit whether they play my song.” he raps before hinting at his next project. “I drop a mixtape and make the world stop like Kobe did.

This beat reminds me of the 90s/ back when we got no shit but family and now I see what the biggest blessing is/ Ya people, n-gga!

DaBaby’s freestyle craze was apparently started during a visit to Funk Flex’s Hot 97 studio and in the weeks since he jumped on Latto’s “Big Energy” and Kodak Black’s “Spin”.

While his Billboard Hot 100 chart strength isn’t what it was in 2019, DaBaby is still very confident in his ability to rap with the best the genre has to offer.

“Ok you can put this beat on and I’m gonna go Eminem level on that bitch you got to get one of them to come with me. You gotta get Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, I’m gonna have no disrespect to anybody but a boy raise your hand,” Baby told Math Hoffa’s. My expert opinion.

“N-ggas knows too and I’m like that really I don’t need to talk about other people’s history,” he added. “I want to talk about me.”
