Kenny Chesney would be the first person to certify that mothers really know best. The top musician’s mother was past her son’s stadium show in Charlotte, North Carolina, in early April and came up with one request – to see a duet with Carly Pearce.

This year’s female vocalist from ACM recently sat down (June 21) Big Machine Label Group to recall the unexpected meeting and reveal what it is like to act on the critically acclaimed Here And Now Tour.

Prior to the show, Pearce told BMLG that she received a call from Chesney asking her to stop at his tour bus to meet someone special. The “Diamondback” artist said she did not expect a warm welcome from Chesney’s southern mother.

“I went up there and the cutest, smallest little woman … and that was his mother,” Pearce said. “She said, ‘Kenny just loves you, and I love your music, and I’m just so glad you’re out here.’

During their brief time together, she placed her superstar son on the spot and pushed him to ask Pearce to join him on stage for an impromptu collaboration. That night at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, Pearce and Chesney surprised No Shoes Nation with a shocking cover of “You and Tequila. “The positive fan reaction got Pearce to a continued place on Chesney’s 27-song set list.

“She said to him on the opening night, ‘You have to sing with him, don’t you?’ And I thought, ‘I do not know, do I?’ she explained the sudden scenario.

Pearce expressed her gratitude and revealed that she has performed Grace Potter’s part of “You and Tequila“Ever since Chesney got a push from her mother.

“Now I sing it with him,” she said full of excitement.

Pearce has had several surreal experiences Here And Now Tour, including performing in her hometown of Taylor Mill, Kentucky. Before taking the stage with Chesney, Old Dominionand Dan + Shay in her cozy community last night (June 23) – the singer took to social media to share the whole circle with fans

Pearce was previously honored with her own day and sign in her hometown on September 2, 2021. She was also inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame class in 2022.

“Kentucky is where I learned to love country music and the incredibly talented musicians who weaved their stories and texture through the genre. From straight-up sass off The Jews and Patty Loveless or real understanding Loretta Lynn ‘s heartache for Bluegrass glow off Ricky Skaggs and Bill Monroetheir influence has driven my music, ”Pearce said of her growth as an artist.
