Cardi B channels her inner emo as she rings in the new year

cardi b tapped into her emo side as she ushered in 2023 and performed Fall Out Boys “Sugar We’re Goin’ Down” while handling hosting duties in Miami.

The Bronx native was hired to host Miami hotspot E11EVEN on the last day of the year, and husband Offset was right by her side.

As the pair kept the crowd hyped throughout the night, a fan caught a brief moment of a drunk Cardi living it up to performing the 2005 pop-punk single.

“Cardi b singing fall out boy only after midnight on New Year’s Day is exactly how I wanted to start my year,” the TikTok user captioned the clip.

Cardi has previously mentioned her love for emo stuff, even praises the “emo kids” at her high school in a tweet a few months ago.

“Ghetto teen… fun fact – The emo kids at school were actually really cool and want to give me free cigarettes,” she tweeted, with recurring photos of her showing off multiple piercings on her body, smoking a cigarette and posing with a bottle of vodka.

But when a fan reacted hysterically to Cardi having an “emo” phase, the “Up” rapper clarified that wasn’t really the case.

“I wasn’t EMO,” Cardi clarified. “I got pierced because piercings were a big thing in the Bronx, especially when this was the side lip piercing era. But they were a lot of emo kids in my school, I want to have historical conversations with them while they give me free cigarettes.”

Cardi is looking forward to a big 2023 as she plans to finally drop her long-awaited sophomore album. Although she’s released big singles like “WAP” and “Up” over the years, Cardi B hasn’t released a full body of work since 2018’s Invasion of privacy and fans are anxious.

During a performance at The Breakfast Club in December, Bardi promised that the album will come this year and said, “I have no choice. I have to turn it off.”
