Busta rhymes returns to music with a brand new project arriving later this month.
The Brooklyn native took to Instagram on Monday (November 7) to announce a new EP titled The fuse is onwhich is scheduled to drop on Friday (November 11).
In his post, Busta unveiled the EP’s cover art, which aptly depicts a hand lighting a stick of dynamite with a match.
The veteran MC also shared the tracklist for the five-track project, which features appearances from fellow New Yorkers The Conway machineBig Daddy Kane and Capella Grey, as well as Jamaican dancehall star Skillibeng.
On the production side, Swizz Beatz, Marley Marl, Focus… and others provide the soundtrack for Busta’s latest musical effort.
“Fuck it, I couldn’t wait!!! BRAND NEW @bustarhymes ‘THE FUSE IS LIT’ EP DROPPIN’ 11.11.22 THE [dragon] RETURNING #THEFUSEISLIT,” Busta captioned his post.
Hip Hop fans are in for a treat on November 11th as The fuse is on will drop on the same day as Nas and Hit-Boy’s recently announced The King’s Disease III. However, Busta Rhymes already had a head start after releasing the single “Slap” featuring Conway The Machine and Big Daddy Kane.
The song was released alongside an official music video last month, and the trio emerged from their bars for a classic night out.
The fuse is on will serve as the follow-up to Busta’s 10th album Extinction Level Event 2: Wrath of Godwhich dropped in October 2020. It debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 after pushing 38,000 first-week units.
The long-awaited album – Busta’s first in eight years – boasted performances from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Rick RossQ-Tip, Mariah Carey, Anderson .Paak and Rakim, as well as a posthumous verse from Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
Meanwhile, Busta Rhymes was honored with the BMI Icon Award at the 2022 BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards in Miami Beach, Florida in September. Busta’s longtime friend and collaborator Pharrell presented him with the award as he paid tribute to the Flipmode Squad frontman.
