Apoc Samples The Last Samurai in Latest Single, ‘Master Swordsman’

Apoc celebrates his birthday with his first track of the year, “Master Swordsman,” which was released yesterday (January 16).

The Filipino hip-hop artist tries out the 2003 film The Last Samurai in the intro, where Tom Cruise’s character, Nathan Algren, asks, “What does it mean to be a samurai? To devote yourself completely to a set of moral principles. To seek a stillness in your mind. And to master the way of the sword.”

Written and produced by Apoc, “Master Swordsman” is filled with mythological, literary and cinematic references, including JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons and Superman among many others.

The new track was released below UPRISINGwhich follows Battle MC’s 2020 solo track “Spit Sick Shit” featuring Aero and his group Teknika Brutal’s (featuring Batas, DJ Arthug and KMG) Cigar album.
