AEG presents to operate new Raleigh concert venue in Downtown South District

AEG Presents has signed a long-term lease to operate a new venue in Raleigh’s Downtown South, a new entertainment district created by Kane Realty Corporation, officials with both companies announced Wednesday (Sept. 21).

Designed by architectural firm Gensler, the state-of-the-art venue will accommodate indoor shows up to a capacity of 3,500 and feature an intimate rooftop lounge. Construction on the site will begin in the spring of 2023, with a grand opening planned for the fall of 2024.

The yet-to-be-named venue will anchor the Downtown South district and back up to a wooded natural area, public park and retail space. The exterior of the building is given an industrial finish of masonry, steel, corrugated metal and wood.

In a statement, AEG presents executive vip, COO and general counsel Shawn Trell called the project a “natural fit” for Downtown South, saying, “Music venues are by nature cultural hubs; they bring a sense of community and help define the energy of a neighborhood. We’ve experienced this most recently with our new venues in Atlanta and Boston , and in Kane Realty we have a partner who shares our vision to open a high-end live music experience in this booming market.”

John KaneCEO of Kane Realty Corporation, compared the new venue to AEG Presents’ Mission Ballroom in Denver and The Eastern in Atlanta, stating, “As Raleigh grows, it will be important for us as a city to keep up with the demands of entertainment options – We believe that the size and flexibility of this new venue will fill a critical gap.”
