You Season 4: The Netflix hit returns this winter

One of Netflix’s most popular shows is returning to the service earlier than expected. Fans of Netflix You was in for a Thanksgiving treat when the service announced that Penn Badgley here returns February 9, one day earlier than the previously announced date. The caveat is that the fourth season won’t be released all at once, with the service continuing to experiment with staggered release dates. The first part of the season premieres on the ninth, while the second half is set to make its Netflix arc exactly one month later, on March 9. No news on how many episodes will be in each part.

This season sends Badgley’s psycho stalker to England, where the official synopsis reveals:

After his former life went up in flames, Joe Goldberg fled to Europe to escape his “messy” past, adopt a new identity, and of course, to pursue true love. But Joe soon finds himself in the strange new role of reluctant detective when he discovers that he may not be the only killer in London. Now his future depends on identifying and stopping whoever is targeting his new friend group of uber-wealthy socialites…

In addition to Badgley, the new season offers the return Uncharted‘s Tati Gabrielle, while Charlotte Ritchie, Ed Speelers and more join the cast.

Confession time – I’ve never seen an episode of Youbut I understand that it has become something of a cult phenomenon, which is interesting since it began life as one Lifetime series. It made very little impact there, but became a phenomenon when it hit Netflix, which is where it’s been running ever since. The staggered release of the season is interesting, as my understanding is that the show never really caught on until people could drown it out, so it seems like a bit of a risky strategy.

You has become a runaway hit for the service, with the show regularly topping the Netflix Top 10 charts, with the third season premiere particularly striking Play octopus from the top spot back in October 2021. While no season ranks on the list of the most-watched shows of all time, it’s possible that this fourth season might just do it.
