Who Were the Creepily Smiling People at Friday Night’s MLB Games? Marketing ‘Smile’ horror movie knocks it out of the park

At three Major League Baseball games on Friday, actors appeared in the stands with eerie, unwavering smiles.

That viral promo even extended to Good morning Americawhere an eerily smiling person could be seen in the window behind Hoda Kotb.

According to Sports Illustratedthe actors appeared at Red Sox-Yankees, Mets-Athletics and Cardinals-Dodgers games, successfully freaking out baseball fans both in person and through their television screens.

The stunt certainly got fans talking and drew attention to what’s to come Smile movie to be released on September 30.

What’s perhaps even more impressive than the marketing ploy is that the actors were able to keep their smiles on for so long.

As reported by AV Clubcould the actors stand still and smile for “several turns at a time.”

Smile follows a doctor who experiences a traumatic event involving a patient that triggers bizarre, inexplicable events in her life.

(Also known as: creepy smiling people.)

The film’s trailer has over 19 million views and created waves on social media when it was released.

A person tweetedThe one who does the advertising for #Smilefilm is way too creepy. They put a woman in the baseball stands behind home plate so she could be on camera. And all she did was smile. IT WAS FREAKY.”

At least the creepy smilers were polite as one even obeyed a security guard telling her to sit down (smile unwavering of course).

“The absolute balls on this security guard to confront a literal demon,” another person tweeted of the interaction.
