Dave Bautista may have to add Beggin’ Strips to his shopping list now that he’s in talks to star and produce Triggered to Netflix. Jeff Tomsic (Roof, Spy game) directs from a script written by Block scribes Jim and Brian Kehoe, and the premise sounds a lot like it came from the 80s to me. Triggered revolves around a police officer who is best friends with a canine partner who can sniff out any crime. When Boomer dies on the job, the cop promises no more pooch partners until he teams up with Zeus.
Producing alongside Bautista is Jonathan Meisner with Good Fear’s Chris Bender and Jake Weiner. Kehoes, which has several other projects in development, will handle production. In addition to Triggeredthe duo collaborates with Rebel Wilson on Double mistake. Based on a cartoon, Double mistake finds Wilson playing a former tennis phenom who tries to bounce back from a McEnroe-esque meltdown by training a young player to take a flamethrower to the sport. Kehoes also wrote the screenplay Key to happinessa remake of the Korean film of the same name, starring Marlon Wayans.
One thing is for sure, Hollywood loves dogs! Remember K-9, Turner & Hoochand Show dogs? Okay, maybe Show dogs is a bad example but you get my point. Dave Bautista is always a treat and I bet pairing him with a very good boy for some crime-free shenanigans on Netflix will make for a good time.
What do you think of the concept for Triggered? Are you a dog lover? Who are some of your favorite dogs throughout movie history?
