The Most Underrated Disney Movies of the Last 25 Years

Since the first full-length animated feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfsarrived in 1937, Walt Disney Studios have churned out beloved classics that have taken root in popular culture. An overwhelming majority of these films are downright excellent, giving us some of the most memorable songs and characters to ever grace the silver screen. Some are marginally better than others — and of course there are a few clunkers — but overall, Disney’s batting average for family-friendly hits is remarkably high.

When Disney teamed up with Pixar Animation Studios in the latter half of the 1990s, the bar was subsequently raised. New computer-generated animation techniques opened the floodgates for some amazing works, starting with the 1995s Toy Story right up to star of the year Turns red. Disney Animation Studios is also responsible for some popular features in the Disney canon, such as Moana, Zootopia, and of course Frozen.

While many of Disney’s standouts get the credit they deserve, there are a select few who are often left out. Maybe their box office performance wasn’t as successful as hoped, or maybe they were just overshadowed by more popular films. Such a movie considered by many to be underrated are 2007s Enchanted — a live-action animation hybrid that satirizes its own adventure clichés while proving their worth. Despite its critical praise, it took 15 years later to get a sequel. Finally, Finally disappointed arrived Disney+ on November 18.
