Tusk 2? Justin Long says Kevin Smith is preparing for more Walrus mayhem

Horror movie from 2014 Tusk (see it HERE) was intended to be the first installment in what writer/director Kevin Smith called his “True North Trilogy”, followed by Yoga Hosers – which was made – and the killer moose movie Moose jaws – which we are still waiting for. But in the end of 2020Smith said he had an idea for one Tusk 2 likewise… and accordingly Tusk star Justin Long, it sounds like he’s ready to start pushing the sequel idea toward production.

You’ll be glad to hear, Kevin just announced – I mean, they’re talking about it. They do Tusk 2, I think. … He was texting us the whole other day, Haley [Joel Osment] and Genesis [Rodriguez], and he told us he was going to do it, and I thought it was a joke. And then I realized he meant it. And then one of those [other] interviewers said, ‘Yeah, he said the same thing to me’.”

Described as “a harrowing horror tale about the perils of storytelling”, Tusk also starring Michael Parks and the actors Long mentioned in that quote – Haley Joel Osment and Genesis Rodriguez. The film follows

a brash American podcaster as he braves the Canadian wilderness to interview an old man with an incredible past – only to discover that the man’s dark secret involves a walrus.

When Smith said he had one more idea Tusk 2 back in 2020, here’s how he described it:

I’ll be honest with you: I have one more story Tusk 2. … The great Michael Parks, who played Howard Howe, the man who turns Wallace into a walrus, sadly passed away a few years ago. … But there is a version of Tusk 2 that you do where you cut to the present and someone else gets sucked into the spider’s web. A house, come and hear stories, and when you get to the house, the new Howard Howe is Wallace, who has come out of the walrus and stuff and is clearly disturbed by his whole ordeal and is now doing it to others. So there is a way to do it Tusk 2 where Justin becomes Michael Parks’ character or Wallace becomes the new Howard Howe and he does this walrus sting on someone else. … So yes, it is possible. Tusk 2 is possible.”

It is somewhat surprising to hear that Smith would like to make one Tusk 2 where Wallace has come out of the walrus suit and become a madman himself because he has previously said that Moose jaws would climax with a battle between the walrus-Wallace and the killer moose. Maybe that plan has changed… or maybe Moose jaws would act as a prequel to Tusk 2. We will have to wait and see how it will turn out.

Meanwhile, we’re still anxiously waiting to hear when Smith’s horror anthology Killroy was here will be available to view in any way other than NFTs or theatrical performances, and Smith is spending some time touring with Clerks III. Apart from that, he seems to be getting ready to do a movie called 4:30 the moviewhich was supposed to take place in 1986 and take place in a cinema.
