Directed by Drew Britton, who also wrote the screenplay with Jessica Farrell, They want me gone stars Alexia Rasmussen (power of attorney). The film has the following logline:

As she struggles to escape rural poverty with her daughter, a loving mother suspects those close to her of turning against her.

And here’s the synopsis:

Working hard to provide for her daughter, Monica is a single mother trying to make ends meet while trapped in rural poverty. After years of struggle and feeling trapped, she becomes anxious that she still has a chance to leave. But the environment begins to take hold when she is caught in threatening circumstances. She begins to feel suffocated and loses trust in the people around her as her desire to leave and make a better life for herself and her daughter becomes more dangerous.

Rasmussen is joined by Jennifer Lafleur (Big Little Lies), Frank Mosley (Upstream color), Stephen Plunkett (The Men), Joslyn Jensen (Without), Leonora Pitts (For all mankind), and Emily Decker (Madeline’s Madeline).

Britton and Farrell produced They want me gone, with Laurie Foote, Mark Foote, Heather LaVine and Jennifer Lafleur serving as executive producers. Britton has previously directed the features When the king flips and Back at the Stairs, in addition to several short films. This marks Farrell’s feature film debut.
