Fourteen months ago it was announced that the great Nicolas Cage would make his Western debut with an action-packed film called The old way. One more trailer The old way has now come online along with the information that the film will receive a theatrical release on January 6th, with a premium VOD and premium digital release to follow on January 13. To help you decide whether or not The old way will be one of the first movies you see in 2023, we’ve got the trailer embedded above.
Directed by Brett Donowho (Acts of violence) from a script by Carl W. Lucas (The wave), The old way has the following synopsis:
Oscar winner Nicolas Cage stars in his first ever western as Colton Briggs, a cold-blooded gunslinger turned respectable family man. When an outlaw and his gang put Colton and his family in danger, Colton is forced to take up arms with an unlikely partner – his 12-year-old daughter (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) – in this action-packed film that builds towards his fateful showdown with pulsating voltage.
Cage and Armstrong (Fire starter) is joined by Noah Le Gros (A score to decide), Clint Howard (Wraith), Kerry Knuppe (RIPD 2: Rise of the Damned), Nick Searcy (The shape of the water), and Shiloh Fernandez (Evil death 2013).
Donowho produced The old way with Micah Haley, Robert Paschall Jr., R. Bryan Wright and Sasha Yelaun. Lucas executive produced alongside Joshua Bunting, Colin Floom, David Haring, Christian Mercuri, Mehrdad Moayedi and Fred Roos.
Cage already has another western in the works: Butcher’s Crossing, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September. No release date has been announced for it yet.
