You are invited to return to the Games. The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is upgrading and Lionsgate has announced to Euphoria star Hunter Schafer has joined the cast Hunger Games prequel.
Hunter Schafer will play Tigris Snow, cousin and confidant of Coriolanus Snow, who advises him on everything – from his role as a mentor to the core of his moral compass. Francis Lawrence, who has previously directed Catching fire, Mockingjay first partand Mockingjay second part, has returned to control the prequel. Michael Lesslie (COM)Macbeth) has written the latest draft of the manuscript, based on work already done by Suzanne Collins and Michael Arndt.
In addition to Hunter Schafer, the Hunger Games prequel gets Tom Blyth in the lead role (The gilded age) as Coriolanus Snow and Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) as Lucy Gray Baird. The Hunger Games was one of the largest YA franchises, and the four starring films Jennifer Lawrence earned over $ 3 billion worldwide. So when Hunger Games author Susan Collins published a prequel novel two years ago, Lionsgate was quick to snap it up.
“Years before he would become the tyrannical president of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow (Blyth) is the last hope for his fading family, a once proud family who have fallen from grace in a post-war capital,”Reads the official synopsis for The ballad about songbirds and snakes. “As the 10th annual Hunger Games approaches with rapid strides, the young Snow becomes alarmed when he is assigned mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Zegler), the girl tribute from the poor district 12. But after Lucy Gray has got all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the harvest ceremony, Snow thinks he may be able to turn the odds in their favor. By uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political wisdom, Snow and Lucy’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who a songbird is and who a snake is.“
The ballad about songbirds and snakes will be released in the cinemas at November 17, 2023.
