Last year, we heard that director John Hyams (Alone) went together with Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson to bring us an untitled pandemic thriller. That thriller now has a title, it’s called Illand earlier today we learned that it will have its world premiere as part of the Midnight Madness line-up at the Toronto International Film Festival next month. Now the first picture from Ill has arrived online and you can check it out at the bottom of this article.
Screenplay by Katelyn Crabb (who was credited as Williamson’s assistant on Scream 2022) from a story by Williamson, Ill occurs
as the country goes into lockdown due to the pandemic, college student Parker and her best friend decide to quarantine the family’s lake house by themselves – or so they think.
The film stars Gideon Adlon in the lead role (The Craft: The Legacy), Dylan Sprayberry (Teen Wolf), Jane Adams (She dies tomorrow), Marc Menchaca (Ozark), Charla Bocchicchio (Stalker), Bethlehem Million (And just like that…), Duane Stephens (Evil angel), Jihae Song (Recipe for love), Logan Murphy (Chicago Med), Alireza Mirmontazeri (Avocado Toast), Aarman Touré (Housewives of the North Pole), and newcomer Kimberlee Kraczek.
Williamson produced Ill with Bill Block and Ben Fast. Andrew Golov executive produced with line producer Michael J. Zampino.
I’m always interested in seeing more genre projects from Williamson, and I was really impressed with Hyams’ work on the thriller Aloneso I’m looking forward to seeing Ill when it is published. How does this project sound to you? Share your thoughts on this one by leaving a comment below.
Hyams’ other directing credits include Universal Soldier: Regeneration, Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, and episodes of Z Nation, Black Summer, The Originals, and Grants. He has been attached to direct a remake of Crazy cop for a long time, but it looks like it will never go into production.
