Martin Scorsese is to direct Leonardo DiCaprio again in a new film

To date Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese have collaborated on five films with a sixth in production. The ones you’ve already seen are Gangs in New York, The aviator, The departed, Shutter Islandand The Wolf of Wall Street. the sixth Killers of the Flower Moonwas recently filmed and is now being edited.

Killers of the Flower Moon doesn’t even have a final official release date yet (it was rumored earlier this week that it won’t premiere until sometime next year), but DiCaprio and Scorsese have already lined up their seventh feature together. According to The Hollywood ReporterDiCaprio will star and Scorsese will direct The effort, based on an upcoming book by David Grann. Grann also wrote the original book Killers of the Flower Moon; both projects are made for Apple.

This is how this second book is described:

Wager’s story, set in the 1740s, is set in motion when a battered boat carrying 30 emaciated men lands on the coast of Brazil. The men were the surviving crew of a British ship chasing a Spanish vessel that had crashed on an island in South America’s Patagonia region. Their tales of surviving the seas and the elements made them heroes. But six months later, another vessel, even more battered than the first, ended up on the coast of Chile, this one with three men. These new sailors charged that the other men were actually mutineers.

It’s interesting to see DiCaprio and Scorsese roll right from one adaptation of this author’s work to another. We haven’t seen Killers of the Flower Moon obvious anyway, but mostly it’s just exciting that Scorsese and DiCaprio keep making movies together.
