Norman Reedus has been living in the world of the undead for well over a decade at this point, and he has no plans to stop anytime soon. Reedus has played Daryl Dixon since the very first season of The Walking Deadand even when the series comes to one end later this year, the actor will star in his very own spinoff.
AMC president Dan McDermott said Weekly entertainment to The Walking Dead spin offfollows Daryl as he wakes up and finds himself somewhere on the continent of Europe, trying to piece together what happened. How did he get here? How is he going to get home?“The spinoff has gone through several changes since its inception. It was originally announced that the spinoff would also star Melissa McBride as Carol, but McBride decided not to drop out due to the filming taking place abroad. Even with all the changes, Norman Reedus wanted to make sure the Daryl spinoff stood alone from the rest The Walking Dead universe.
We knew we wanted to do a show that went in the opposite direction, just because we didn’t want to do the same thing. So that’s what we do. And it will be way various. The story is different. The characters are very different. There is another tone, there is another light, there is another sound. It’s a completely different atmosphere.
The actor added that the spinoff is “going to be f—ing epic.” Switching locations from the US to Europe should be a lot of fun, and it will be interesting to see how other countries deal with the zombie apocalypse.
Of course, this is not the only one The Walking Dead spinoff on the way. There is also The Walking Dead: Dead Citywhich will focus on Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan)”travels to a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and residents who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty and terror.” Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) will be too returns for another spinoff. The project originally began as a trilogy of Rick Grimes moviebut has been turned into a six-episode series which will present a “epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world.“
The last eight episodes of The Walking Dead begins to be sent October 2.
