Sony announces new Karate Kid movie to be released in 2024, pushing back Madame Web and Kraven

Sony Pictures has announced a handful of new release dates for their upcoming films, and there is one much interesting addition. It turns out there is a new one The Karate Kid movie in the works, which is slated for a 7 June 2024 release. The only additional information is that this will be the return of the original The Karate Kid franchise.

After the release of The Karate Kid in 1984, the franchise grew to include The Karate Kid Part II, The Karate Kid Part IIIand The next Karate Kid. There was also a reboot in 2010 starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. That The Karate Kid saga has been rejuvenated in recent years thanks to Cobra Kai. The TV series features Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprising their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. Over the past five seasons, we’ve also seen other actors from the franchise return to their roles, including Martin Kove as John Kreese and Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver. Like the new one The Karate Kid the movie seems to be part of the original franchise, it is possible that we will see some Cobra Kai characters make the leap back to the big screen.

Sony has also pushed back the release of several of their Spider-Man universe movies. Madame Webwhich stars Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, has been pushed 6 October 2023 to 16 February 2024; Kraven the Hunterwhich stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title role, has been switched from 13 January 2023 to 6 October 2023. Sony was also planning another untitled Sony/Marvel Universe movie 12 July 2024. The upcoming Garfield movie starring Chris Pratt as the voice of the lasagna-loving cat will now hit theaters on 24 May 2024. The study is also dated Missingthe next part of Searching franchise, for one 24 February 2023 release.
