Ryan Murphy shows Monster and The Watcher gets more seasons from Netflix

I’m eagerly waiting Netflix to order a sixth season of Cobra Kai, but while they’re dragging their feet to do so, they’ve wasted no time ordering multiple seasons of a few other shows I’ve recently seen. They are Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and The guardboth of which were created by Ian Brennan and American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy.

Netflix has ordered two more seasons of Monsterwhich will drift away from Dahmer to “tell stories of other monstrous figures that have affected society.” That Dahmer season of Monster (read our review HERE) has already garnered over 934 million viewing hours from Netflix subscribers around the world and is expected to reach 1 billion hours very soon.

“The Real Estate Thriller” The guard, which is also inspired by a true story (to an extent), is getting a second season. You can read our review of the first season at THIS LINK.

Netflix’s Bela Bajaria had this to say about the renewals: “The audience can’t take their eyes off Monster and The guard. The creative team of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan on Monster along with Eric Newman on The guard are masterful storytellers who captivate audiences worldwide. The back-to-back power of these two series is due to Ryan’s distinctive original voice, which created cultural sensations, and we’re excited to continue telling stories in Monster and Watcher universes.

Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has the following synopsis:

Between 1978 and 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer brutally took the lives of seventeen innocent victims. DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is a series that exposes these unconscionable crimes, centered around the underserved victims and their communities affected by the systemic police racism and institutional failure that allowed one of America’s most notorious serial killers to continue his murderous ride in plain sight for over a decade.

And here is the synopsis for The guard season 1:

Dean (Bobby Cannavale) and Nora Brannock (Naomi Watts) have just bought their dream home in the idyllic suburb of Westfield, New Jersey, but after spending all their savings to close the deal, they quickly realize the neighborhood is less than welcoming. There is a crazy old woman named Pearl (Mia Farrow) and her brother Jasper (Terry Kinney) who sneak into the Brannock house and hide in their butler. There’s Karen (Jennifer Coolidge), the real estate agent and an old acquaintance of Nora’s, who makes them feel like they don’t really belong, and nosy neighbors Mitch (Richard Kind) and Mo (Margo Martindale), who don’t let on to understand property lines. Their icy welcome quickly turns to hell when ominous letters from someone calling themselves “The Watcher” begin to arrive, terrorizing the Brannocks to the breaking point as the neighborhood’s dark secrets spill out.
