The video game Killer Klowns from Outer Space will feature some of Chiodos’ sequel ideas

Back in 1988, the Chiodo Brothers brought us the cult classic horror comedy Killer Klowns from outer space (see it HERE) – and pretty much ever since they’ve been hoping for the chance to make a sequel to the film. Still no word on one Killer Klowns 2but once in 2023 there will be one Killer Klowns from outer space video game released for PC, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox Series and Xbox One… and during a conversation with ComicBook.comChiodos revealed that some of the ideas they had for a sequel have been incorporated into the game.

Edward Chiodo told the site, “The game is developed by Teravision, where we act as executive producers and creative advisors. One of our main focuses was to ensure that the game captures the true look and unique spirit of the film that fans feel so emotionally connected to. We had to make sure the clowns looked like our clowns, made sure they acted like our clowns and did clown things when they were stalking and killing people. Of course, the folks at Teravision have their own great new ideas as well, not only for the game that fans will want to play when it first comes out, but also for what comes after – like new maps, new vibes, and crazy new approaches to Killer Klown’s experience . We helped them make sure that these new ideas that are incorporated into this universe feel authentic, organic and in line with how we see it. But we’ve also unlocked our treasure chest and shared our notebooks of ideas that we’ve been working on for 35 years with the team. We gave them insight into the origins of the Klown race and teased the possibility that they have been visiting Earth for a very long time. But it became clear very early on that the gameplay wasn’t going to support the narrative of our continuing stories for the franchise, but it was going to allow us to share a lot of the new weapons and antics we’ve been playing with all these years. We’re really excited to say that fans can look forward to seeing some of our ideas for fun kills that we never got to film, and also learning more about the larger mythology and world of the Klowns.

Stephen Chiodo added: “We have so many ideas for great new Klown kill gags that we’ve been playing around with, and we’re happy to say that we were able to include many in the game. However, we have some ideas that don’t quite fit the gaming medium, so we have a lot that we’re saving that we can pursue in the future. There is just so much left to explore and new dimensions of the Klown universe that we would love to bring to life for the fans.

Killer Klowns from outer space (the film) was directed by Stephen Chiodo from a script he co-wrote with his brother Charles Chiodo. Stephen and Charles also produced the film with their other brother, Edward Chiodo. It has the following synopsis:

When teenagers Mike and Debbie see a comet crash outside their sleepy little town, they investigate and discover a pack of murderous aliens that look a lot like circus clowns. They try to alert the local authorities, but everyone assumes their story is a hoax. Meanwhile, the clowns set about harvesting and eating as many people as they can. It’s not until they kidnap Debbie that Mike decides it’s up to him to stop the clowns’ bloody rampage.

That Killer Klowns from outer space video game sounds like it’s going to be a blast, so it should be a lot of fun to have this game to play while we continue to wait for the movie sequel to get underway.
