House of the Dragon: Episode 2 draws over 10 million viewers

The premiere of House of the Dragon brought in 9.99 million viewers, making it HBO’s biggest premiere ever. While some expected the ratings for episode 2 of the House of the Dragon would fall, they have actually shown an increase of 2%.

House of the Dragon episode 2, which aired on HBO on Sunday, brought in 10.2 million viewers across all platforms. HBO also added that the series premiere has grown to nearly 25 million viewers over the past week. HBO has too renewed series for the second season. It seems audiences are still hungry for the world of Westeros despite the divisive series finale of the Game of Thrones.

Speaking of Game of Thronesfans have been a little confused about it House of the Dragon have simply reused the theme music from the original series for their own opening credits. Though Game of Thrones the theme is definitely iconic, I was looking forward to hearing something new for the spin-off. Using the same music with no changes other than the visuals was not what I expected.

House of the Dragon takes place hundreds of years before the original series. It is based on George RR Martin’s Fire & Blooda Targaryen history book which tells the story of House Targaryen starting with “Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and [going on] to tell the stories of the generations of Targaryens who fought to keep the throne, right up to the civil war known as the Dance of Dragons that almost tore their dynasty apart.
