Halloween (1978) vs Friday the 13th (1980) – Face Off

They are two of the most infamous, fought over and bloodiest American slasher films of their era. Not only that, but they’re also the most franchise-giving, with a total of 25(!) entries, including originals, successorsrestarts and remakes between the two. It’s like a bunch of hacked horny teenagers.

The original 1978 Halloween from John Carpenter along with the initial Friday the 13th films have stood the test of time as bonafide slashers essential to any Halloween horror marathon. The films are complete with two iconic villains in the form of Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees (sort of), a house full of kills and unsettling music that will make your spine tingle – or channel the world’s most evil mother.

But only one of these films will come out alive! So let’s go trick or treating in Haddonfield and take a dip at Camp Crystal Lake because it’s time to… FACE OFF!

This episode of Face Off is written by Mathew Plale, narrated by Shawn Knippelberg and edited by Brandon Nally. But don’t let us have the last word – tell us in the comments which classic slasher movie is your pick? Are you on Team Voorhees and Crystal Lake’s counselors or Team Myers and the Haddonfield babysitters?
