Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves opens the SXSW Film Festival

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves isn’t set to hit theaters for close to three months, but if you’re headed to South by Southwest (SXSW) in March you will be able to see the fantasy adventure film a little early.

SXSW announced today Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves opens the festival, which runs from the 10th to the 19th March. “We are thrilled to announce the first wave of our incredible lineup for SXSW 2023,” said Claudette Godfrey, VP Film & TV. “It’s a fantastic collection of movies, TV shows and XR experiences that promise to inspire, entertain and challenge our audience. We are also proud to open with Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thievesa blistering and engaging fantasy adventure, and looks forward to welcoming everyone to Austin in March for what promises to be an unforgettable event.” The fantasy film follows a charming thief and a group of unlikely adventurers who embark on an epic quest to find a lost relic, but things go dangerously wrong when they run into the wrong people. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves starring Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, Daisy Head and Hugh Grant.

In addition to Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thievessome of the other headliners at SXSW included Evil Dead Risethe latest part of Evil death franchise. Written and directed by Lee Cronin, the film tells the story of two estranged sisters whose reunion is interrupted by the rise of flesh-possessing demons that drive them into a primal struggle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family , one can imagine. Also the headline at the festival will be Flamin’ Hota film directed by Eva Longoria that tells the story of Richard Montañez, the Frito Lay janitor who channeled his Mexican-American heritage and upbringing to turn Flamin’ Hot Cheetos into a snack that disrupted the food industry and became a global phenomenon, and Problemista, a film from Julio Torres, which follows an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador who struggles to bring his unusual ideas to life in New York City. As his work visa expires, a job helping an outcast art world becomes his only hope of staying in the country and realizing his dream.

If you can’t catch Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves at SXSW the film will hit theaters March 31.
