Baba Booey! Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar has called out shock jock recluse Howard Stern for his comments on an interview he did with Freddie Prinze Jr. about their relationship.
In it August 2001 interview Howard Stern Stern asked Freddie Prinze Jr. “So you want to marry Sarah Michelle Gellar even though you know it won’t last?” Later he bluntly told the actor, “It’s not going to work for you … I want to make a written bet with you … In about 10 years you’re going to hunt me down and say ‘Howard, I owe you money.’ In the end, the two settled on a $1 million bet!
Well, Stern might owe Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. double that money. The couple who met while filming the teen slasher I know what you did last summer, have just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. (For what it’s worth, the traditional 20th anniversary gift is an emerald, but they probably won’t be getting the green item either.) Stern’s words were clearly a bit of a stumble, as the couple not only have legs, but have also been relatively free of tabloid controversy and has two children.
Sarah Michelle Gellar posted an Instagram story with screenshots of Stern’s interview with her husband, writing, “I think you owe us.” (The story has since expired, so who knows if Stern actually saw it.) Hopefully, Gellar’s words gain traction.
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr., who of course were more prevalent as an “it” couple in the late ’90s and early 2000s, have shared screen credits together on a number of projects. Apart from the aforementioned horror film, they starred in both Scooby Doo movie (which should have totally been R-rated), as well as provided votes for Happy N’Ever After and Star Wars Rebels.
What do you think? Does Sarah Michelle Gellar have a legitimate claim? Does Howard Stern have to pay? Realistically, good luck get some money from Howard Stern. Bye for now!
