Criterion Channel streaming collection of some of the best ’80s horror movies this October

If you are a horror fan with a subscription to Criterion channel, you have one hell of a month to look forward to. The streaming service kicks off the Halloween season with a collection of thirty of the best ’80s horror movies out there. With films from Dario Argento, John Carpenter, David Cronenberg, Tobe Hooper and more, there’s something for everyone, from Amy Holden Jones’ seedy slasher The Slumber Party Massacre to Kathryn Bigelow’s cult classic vampire thriller Close to Darkness.

Curated by Clyde Folley, this collection of 80s horror will take you on a “spooky trip through the decade of greed features ambitious art-pulp hybrids, old-fashioned creature features, a vampiric Nicolas Cage and absolutely unclassifiable cult oddities, bringing together some of the most stylish, haunting and monstrous visions of the eighties.” Here is the full list of horror films that will be available on the Criterion Channel on October 1st, but note that Tony Scott’s Hungry doesn’t come until November 1st.
