With less than six weeks until the premiere, 20th Century Studios and James Cameron have finally revealed the full Avatar: The Way of Water trailer. While we got one teaser trailer a few months ago, this full-length trailer gives us a better idea of what to expect on our return trip to Pandora. For the first time, we get to see some of Sigourney Weaver’s performance as Jake Scully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri’s (Zoe Saldaña) daughter, Kiri. We also get a foreboding look at Stephen Lang’s Quaritch in full Navi form, seemingly crushing a Navi skull in his bare hands. While the first teaser concentrated on the much-hyped underwater kingdom on Pandora, the full trailer gives us more of an idea of what the scope of the film is going to be.
Here is the latest synopsis from the studio:
More than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri and their children), the problems that follow them no matter how far they go. to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive and the tragedies they face.
While it has taken thirteen years for us to finally get one Avatar sequel, I dare say it looks like it was worth the wait. Let’s not forget that the original, Avatarspent a decade as the highest-grossing film of all time (being replaced by Avengers: Endgame). While some have scoffed at James Cameron taking so long to deliver a sequel, I would never count him out. Much is riding on the success of Avatar: The Way of Waterwith a third movie already underway, and fourth and fifth sequels are also planned. If all goes according to plan for Cameron, we’ll be getting new Avatar movies every two years for the rest of the decade.
