Cast your mind back to the distant year 2009. It was a very different time. And that was the year James Cameron sent us first to Pandora, the Day-Glo lit planet Avatarwhere huge aliens called the Na’vi roamed and venal humans from Earth started a war to obtain a precious mineral known as unobtanium.
Many people claim not to remember Avatar, but it became (and still is) the biggest box office hit in film history. So even though it’s been 13 years, I’d guess a whole lot of people will show up Avatar: The Way of Water when it opens in theaters this Christmas. Cameron is back as writer-director along with many of the original cast members. More important, The Way of the Water features tons of wild Pandora attractions and all-new wacky aliens. The new trailer just makes it look like a big spectacle. And that kind of thing always plays. Take a look:

Avatar: The Way of Water is slated to open in theaters on December 16. The film is intended as the first of four Avatar sequels Cameron intends to make over the next few years.
