The All Quiet on the Western Front teaser paints a haunting portrait of the First World War

Completely quiet on the west front will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, but Netflix finally has released the first teaser trailer for the World War I drama.

Based on the world-renowned bestselling novel by Erich Maria Remarque, Completely quiet on the west front Narratorpoignant story of a young German soldier on the Western Front during the First World War. Paul and his comrades experience firsthand how the initial euphoria of war turns to desperation and fear as they fight for their lives and each other in the trenches.” Beautiful, haunting and terrifying, the teaser trailer for this latest incarnation of Completely quiet on the west front looks very impressive. The first adaptation of Remarque’s novel hit theaters in 1930 and went on to win an Oscar for Best Picture. The story was also adapted into a TV movie starring Richard Thomas, Ernest Borgnine, Donald Pleasence and Ian Holm in 1979.

Completely quiet on the west front was directed by Edward Berger, who also wrote the script with Lesley Paterson and Ian Stokell. The film stars Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schuch, Aaron Hilmer, Moritz Klaus, Edin Hasanovic, Adrian Grünewald, Thibault De Montalembert, Devid Striesow and Daniel Brühl. It will also be Germany’s official entry for the 2023 Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. After its debut at TIFF, Completely quiet on the west front will play at the Paris Theater in New York on October 7. It will then play in select theaters 14 October before it lands on Netflix October 28.
