Amazon’s hit animated adaptation of Invincible comics seem to be more popular than ever, which has helped fuel discussions involving the progress of a live-action film.
Talking to Comicbook.com in a recent retrospective of the series – which is celebrating its 20th anniversary – creator Robert Kirkman revealed that a live-action film based on the series is still in development. While he didn’t delve into too many details about the film, he noted that the popularity of the TV series has only helped when it comes to getting people to embrace the idea of a Invincible film project seriously.
“We’re very much still working on it,” Kirkman said. “Sometimes movies take a little longer. I think it’s safe to say, if anything, the show has just helped tremendously. People are very excited about that movie potential at Universal. So we’re riding on that excitement and trying to push things forward as quickly as possible.”
Although not too much is known about the film, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (who are executive producers on the animated series) are set to write the film adaptation. Rogen also works on the Amazon series in a voice role portraying the character Allen the Alien.
The animated series based on Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley’s comic series of the same name stars Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, JK Simmons, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Walton Goggins and Chris Diamantopoulos.
